New Year Resolution Book Tag

I was excited to be tagged by Kayla from Books, Boxes, & Baubles to do this Book Tag because it looks like so much fun. You should check out her post here after you read mine of course.

On with the Book Tag!

An author you’d like to read (that you’ve never read before).

I’m going to go with Victoria Schwab/V.E. Schwab because I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about her writing and want to see what all the hype is about.

A book you’d like to read.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern! The premise of this book sounds interesting and again, I’ve heard nothing but good things.

A classic you’d like to read.

This is a tough one. I’m going to list two because I’m unsure one counts.

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, this is a modern classic so again, I’m unsure if it counts as a true classic.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, the link is to the copy I actually own. I love the Disney Animated movie and have been meaning to actually read this for a long time.

A book you’d like to re-read.

Gahh. There are so many things on this list! I’m going to go with the Infernal Devices Trilogy by Cassandra Clare because I loved it. We’re just going to leave it at that before I change my mind.

A book you’ve had for ages and want to read.

Okay, so my friend Shannon loaned me a copy of The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky a super long time ago. We’re talking at least four years ago here! Not only do I still have her book but I have yet to read it.

A big book you’d like to read.

Big books sort of freak me out. Their size is just so intimidating. I’m going to go with Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. This is another book that’s been on my shelf for a while. I started reading it back when I first got it and enjoyed it. Somehow I put it down and never got back to it. Hoping to change that this year.

An author you’ve previously read and want to read more of.

For this one I have to go with Nicola Yoon. Recently, I just finished Everything, Everything by her and absolutely loved it. Personally, I love contemporary novels and this one felt real and original. Also loved her writing style and use of diverse characters. I’ve heard her second book, The Sun Is Also a Star, is supposed to be just as good if not better. I absolutely cannot wait to read it.

A book you got for Christmas and would like to read.

I only got one book for Christmas and it was The Fever Code by James Dashner. It is the sequel to the prequel series (duology?) to the Maze Runner series. I feel like I have to read it because my friend got me the book. It’s funny, I have not read the first book in this prequel series, so I’m unsure why she got it for me. So I need read that before I can get to this.

A series you want to read (start and finish).

The Mistborn Triology by Brandon Sanderson. I bought the first two books from BookOutlet and they just came in the mail yesterday! Heard so many good things about this series and I’m excited to read it.

A series you want to finish (that you’ve already started)

Again, I have too many answers for this question. I’m going to go with the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer because I am ashamed that I haven’t finished it yet. I actually own a copy of Winter and started reading it slowly when it first came out. I say slowly because I absolutely love this series and wanted to savor this last book. I put the book down one day and got distracted, cause that is my problem with life. Now, I CANNOT FIND THIS GOD DAMN BOOK! It is somewhere in the mess that is my room. Seriously need to find it and actually finish it because I need to know what happens!

Do you set reading goals? If so, how many books do you want to read in 2017?

This is something I recently started doing. I want to read at least 50 books this year. According to GoodReads I am on track to complete this goal so hopefully I can meet it.

Any other reading goals?

I would like to read more of a variety of books. At the moment I read a lot of YA, so I’m hoping to expand that to new genres. I’d also like to read more diverse books as well.

Now it’s time to tag people I suppose. I don’t really know many people here in the Book Blogging Community so I’m just going to tag Bella from Bella Blogs Because Books  (hopefully you have not done this yet).

However, if you’re reading this and want to take on this Tag, I encourage you to do it! Leave a link down below to your post because I’d love to hear your answers. Also comment down below if you’re new and want more friends. I promise I’m not a scary person!

    • Haha you’re welcome! The Handmaid’s Tale is also getting made into a TV show set to air sometime soon this year. I hope to read it sooner rather than later this year for that reason.
