WWW Wednesday (May 24th, 2017)

I’ve seen this meme all over the book blogging community and finally decided to take part in it. I’m also reading a ton of books at the moment and want to talk about them.

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. It’s pretty simple, all you have to do is answer 3 (W) questions. Let’s get into it.

What are you currently reading?

a court of mist and furyA Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas — Yes, I’m finally making my way through this bad boy. Ever since I joined the book community, I’ve seen this book everywhere. Everyone has raved about it and I wasn’t sure what to think of it.

I had mixed feelings about A Court of Thorns and Roses, but had a feeling that ACOMAF would pick up. I mean the end of ACOTAR alone gave me hopes that this series would turn around. It definitely has picked up a lot! I love all the new characters from The Night Court. We get a team, which I’m all about. There’s Rhysand. So much good stuff. I’m beginning to see why it has gathered as much attention as it has.

I’m about halfway through this massive book and while I am enjoying it, I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. I feel a twist coming on and I’m not sure if I’m ready for it. I also need to finish this quickly, it’s due back at the library today…

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher — Bella @ Bella Blogs Because Books and I are thirteen reasons whybuddy reading this together! This is sort of a reread for me. I picked this book up a long time ago and then DNF’d it because my loan ended and I forgot to take it out again.

The Netflix show recently came out and it has been taking the internet by storm. I’ve been told by several people that I need to watch it and I plan too! Usually I really don’t care about whether I read the book first or not. I figured since I started the book I probably should finish that before jumping into the show. I’m really excited to see how they translated this book over to TV.

Currently, I’m about 50 or so pages in. I will most likely be reading on my train ride to and from work. I haven’t gotten to the tear jerk moments yet, but have a feeling I will be crying in public soon.

What did you recently finish reading? The Hating Game

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne — I just finished this adult contemporary romance and it was pretty cute. I definitely had a lot of fun reading it, though it was not what I was expecting. Joshua, our male lead, is definitely swoon worthy and some moments in this book gave me all of the feels! I think that it sort of fell apart at the end, but it was still a good contemporary. I will be doing a more in depth review on it at some point (when I actually catch up on reviews). (Rating 4/5 Stars)

What do you think you’ll read next?

City of Heavenly FireCity of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments #6) — I’ve been trying to read most, if not all, of Cassandra Clare’s books before BookCon so that I could attend her panel. BookCon is fast approaching and I unfortunately don’t think it’s going to happen. However, if I just finish The Mortal Instruments Series before BookCon I will feel accomplished.

Technically, I’ve already read the prologue already and can already tell that this final book is going to be a wild ride. I don’t know if I’m ready for the action that goes down, but I am ready to finally finish this series.

The little paris bookshopThe Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George — If I don’t immediately pick up City of Heavenly Fire next, I will be picking this up. It is my book club’s pick for this month and I have yet to start it! I know I’m a bad member. I really need to start this too because according to GoodReads it’s 392 pages, which is a lot longer than I originally thought. Thankfully we’ve pushed back the meeting so I have more time to read it.

Those are my reading plans as of this week. Hopefully I can finish ACOMAF before I have to return it, because it already looks like it might be a bit of a pain to get back.

What are you reading? Have you read any of these? Love to hear your thoughts. Leave a comment and let’s chat.

  1. I’d be interested to see what you think of 13 Reasons. I wasn’t a fan of either the book or the TV series but I read and watched both. I wrote some posts covering my feelings on it. I think some of the articles on the psychology in the series are worth a read. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

    • I definitely plan to do some research before I write a post to get more perspective on everything. (If you know of any good ones, link me) The book/tv show definitely has a lot of mixed reviews and I’m interested to see where I end up finding myself on the spectrum.

  2. Recommendations of the online book community has sucked every spare penny I have! Know what you mean about ACoMaF – those books are everywhere. I’m also late to the party, but happily engrossed in The Sin Eater’s Daughter series. Don’t want to start another YA fantasy series until I’ve finished these.

    • They are everywhere, especially with ACoWaR just coming out. I have not heard of The Sin Eater’s Daughter series, I might have to check it out. I am on a YA fantasy kick lately.
