An Open Letter to My Library — Where is My Fucking Book?

Dear New York Public Library,

You know that I love you. You have a great catalog, and are always there when I’m looking to check out a book. You make it especially easy and free to read manga, which I’m slowly trying to get into. That is until today.

I have been patiently waiting for my hold on Noragami: Vol 10 to come in. I placed it on hold in June, along with Vol 11. As usual with most manga I request, the later came first. Like it always does.

(Don’t worry, I don’t hold it against you and chalk that up to bad luck on my part.)

But it was okay, because Vol 10 was in transit per your helpful online catalog. It would be coming to me soon, so I put Vol 11 aside and waited.

And waited…

And kept waiting…

So much waiting…

I’m still waiting, even though it’s been at least a month! I’ve even had to renew Vol 11 because I still have yet to get this fucking book. I just want to know what’s going on. I’ve got no update. Did my book get lost in the mail? Did someone steal it just to spite me, because they knew I’m close to where the anime stops but the manga continues?

I know this is not a normal thing for you. Usually when something is listed as “In Transit” I get it within five days. It’s getting to the point where I’m seriously considering buying motherfucking Vol 10, because I just can’t take it anymore! WHERE IS MY BOOK!?

If this blog post somehow finds you, it would be great if you could let me know what happened to my book. I know that we can put this small problem behind us, as I still love you and you’re the best thing to happen to books since books existed.

But it would be great if you could get me book asap!

Sincerely,

Becky

P.S. I drafted this letter at the end of July. In August, I finally asked a librarian about the book. She said it probably got lost in the mail, but noticed they had a copy at the library I frequent. Not only did she go get it for me, but also brought back Volumes 12 and 13 for me. Real MVP right there.
